Definition

Bulk density of particles > 2mm to < 2cm (see Vincent et al 1994). Gravel Bulk density is determined as the ratio of the mass of gravel to the total volume of gravel from a soil sample (Vincent et al 1994). Gravel is oven dried without washing off the fine earth for 24 h at 105°C, and weighed. Then gravel volume is determined using the volumetric displacement method.
