This paper estimates the employment effects of the first six months of the JobKeeper program over the following year, which includes the height of the COVID‑19 recession in Australia and subsequent rapid recovery.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the New Zealand Government introduced a series of economic policies designed to support the health response. The largest was the COVID-19 Wage Subsidy Scheme (WSS). This paper analyses the impacts of the WSS on both firm and worker level economic outcomes.
